Day 69-What you should keep in mind while considering marriage with someone

Let me first begin by saying that Marriage is a gamble. It may or may not click no matter how smart you are. So chill and pray .
But that doesn't mean that you should be all "Bollywood types" waiting to hear violins while you see a person's photograph . I mean spark does happen..it is true..give it some weightage but don't be carried away.
Some things you must consider in an arranged marriage(it is insane that such marriages happen even now..but anyway...)
1. Have clarity on what your parents are looking for while searching for the right one. This is extremely important to make sure you are not blind to a few things
2. Give the person a fair chance. Photograph doesn't say much...well the max u see is how well groomed he/she is..and of course their choice of clothes
3. Go on a date..like a proper date....Plan...and prepare for it..If you are a girl..see how the man is handling the entire thing and how courteous he is throughout the process. If you are a man...check how confident and polite the girl is throughout the process
4. Discuss sensitive aspects-especially financial details. Understand the other person's concept of money.
5. ALWAYS discuss your ambition/goals
6. There is NO NEED to discuss your past/previous relationships. The other person needs to respect this and be ok with this. If she/he insists on knowing all about your life...DISCARD
7. Notice how the person treats others-waiters, security guards, drivers etc.
8. Assess his/her "reality quotient"-If they are too dreamy or filmy..maybe you should give this a second thought.
9. Find out his/her bondage to their family-how obsessive, how strong, how weak and see if it agrees with what you want in life
10. Discuss spirituality
11. Gauge the person's strength -of opinions/views..is it just strong or bordering on fanaticism?
12. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE be smart enough to check the person's "drama quotient". if the person comes across as a drama queen, please reject. Trust me..drama is nice for 3 months..end of the first year it starts eating into you...and later it is like a blood sucking leech(sorry about the excessive exaggeration)

To all my girls and guy friends out there trying to decide a partner based on a photograph and a few meetings...God bless you :)
