Day 80-Google God
Whoever said that Google is God is an utterly inexperienced horse with a saddle.
With the immense power and freedom to share and receive information across the globe, comes a certain disadvantage of unreliable information. Which information on google can you say for sure is authentic or "beyond controversy"? None!If you are a tech guru and you know hundred shortcuts and techniques to obtain "reliable information", you can stop reading this post.
The common man who is used to typing a grammatically incorrect sentence on the google search bar and still being able to get relevant information , is prone to getting carried away by what he sees and the result is not pleasing..trust me.
In my honest opinion and experience there are 3 things one must never completely trust a google search result,
1. Any medical condition-It is amazing how every symptom that you have, will track you to the C word and convince you that you need a biopsy. If your question is about pregnancy...it will confirm that you are pregnant even if you never had coitus. Some amazing stuff out there. You must definitely test this out just to humour yourself.
2. Any Visa/consular information- this is a nightmare. Especially if you are dealing with the "privileged...developed God nations" . Every information is conflicting. Hundred loopholes, thousand versions and 20,000 confusing statements.Lay man-even if you are a post grad with some worldly knowledge will feel like a stupid, illiterate person trying to get small information.
3. History- With money and power, any nation can change its history- villain can be projected as the hero..people who sacrificed lives for humanity can be completely thrown off picture. It is such a corrupt place we live in....its not funny!
Some advice to adults (apart from that one advice of "never completely trust the internet")
1. Never refer to Google/any search engine as God especially infront of your children-explain to them that all information is not true
2. SHOW that books have credible information and it is better to research in the library rather than on the internet
3. Reiterate that human beings created the internet and Humans are more powerful and reliable than lifeless binary codes. So speak with thy neighbour more than you sit in front of that lifeless box.
More than anything else, teach children "how to obtain reliable information" and how to validate if a particular piece of information is "correct".
Wait, you don't know this yourself? Dude...All the best for life!
