Day 91-The race called "Teachers"
I remember
I need to do a blog post about teachers- on the different types of teachers. So I
have been thinking about it a lot . One thing I am convinced about is that
world over teachers are honest, simple people. They are doing their best with the thousand
limitations they have. Teachers are the class of people who constantly
overwork, do maximum homework(yes that’s true),drink less water, almost never
eat and alwayyyssss worry about their children about whether they are doing their
best or not. Teachers are the least appreciated people in the world and
considering that they are being rendered this treatment, their work is praise
worthy. But I see a lot of similarities between teachers irrespective of race
and culture.
1. Teachers love their stationery. You
can bring in hundred systems, you can provide them the best gadgets in the
world..but they prefer their trusted pen and paper. They would rather write on
paper and transfer the information on system rather than type directly.
2. Most teachers are technologically
challenged. Excel is a monster…word is ok..with a lot of training.
3. Teachers like to overdo things. In
place of one material for a concept, they would rather put 3 materials on the
shelf.I attribute this to anxiety and lack of time to reflect.
4. Most teachers complain…a
lotttttttttt. I wont blame them
5. Efficiency takes a back seat and hard
work takes preference. I think putting in 2 hours of extra time is a
reassurance that they are after all doing their best
6. Teachers are the least trained. Most
trainings that happen once in a year on team building and communication skills
are usually forgotten on the next day-and that is not because of ability to
retain but because most training programmes are redundant..unnecessary and
impractical
7. Teachers have a lottttttttttt of
paperwork to do on a daily, hourly basis. So in the process of maintaining records ..so parents can see their children’s
photograph kneading dough or writing, teaching learning programme is usually neglected
No matter
what the odds, these are the most earnest human beings. They are the reason
that you and I are able to read and write no matter how much we pride ourself for our innate intelligence.
Dearest
underpaid teachers, you are special and no matter whether parents recognize this
or not, you have a very special part to play in shaping the future of the
world.
