Day 95-The Obsession for hoarding
I happened
to attend a conference today where various accomplished speakers shared colossal
amounts of information in a short period of time. I for one am known for taking
copious notes on everything…I have notebooks and papers full of notes and
information because I find such information extremely useful and life changing
even. But I have also realized over a period of time that I never go back to
these notes. It just lies as words inked on paper only to be forgotten and
neglected for the rest of life because hey!Who has the time to reflect or go
over something?
I notice
that many people were like me today, taking down a lot of notes during the
sessions but I wonder how many of them actually revisit this data and use it in
their lives.
We all have
a tendency to haord….hoarding of material things and information…
In the day
and age when all information is available in the click of a button, I wonder
why we all have the obsession to store files as soft copies..some of us,
crowding the desktop with all sorts of random files. We realize the worthiness
of these files when our systems decide to give up being dumped and crash. The
truth ofcourse is that we are not even aware of what we lost and what we need.
Our lives go on quite normally even without them.
So my
sincere plea and suggestion to all people, especially educators is to
consciously avoid “hoarding information”. Instead, commit it to your memory and
understanding and get away with the physical files.
Decluttering
is the key to a free and hassle free life.
Let us
declutter our lives..and move towards minimalism as much as possible.
Easier said
that done..but trust me..the results will amaze you!
